Dr. Elizabeth Viriya from New York Ophthalmology.Dr. Elizabeth Viriya is an accomplished ocular surgeon at New York Ophthalmology who is proud to provide personalized care and visual rehabilitation to those in need. Dr. Viriya supports her community through her specializations in cornea care, refractive surgeries, and external eye disease.

Education & Experience

After her undergraduate at Columbia University in NYC, Dr. Viriya completed her master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. She then earned her M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical School, followed by an Ophthalmology degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Viriya went on to act as a Cornea/Refractive Surgery Fellow at Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute in San Diego, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at NYU Langone Health.

Refractive Surgeries

Refractive surgeries such as LASIK and PRK correct vision conditions like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia.

Cornea Surgeries

Corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL), pterygium excision, and cornea transplant treat cornea conditions such as keratoconus, pterygium growths, and injury-related trauma.

Cataracts Surgery

To treat cataracts, the cloudy lens of the eye must be safely removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL), such as monofocal, toric, or multifocal lenses.
