Shyam A. Patel, MD, MBA

Dr. Shyam A. Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon specializing in the treatment of various eye conditions. He provides compassionate care to patients at New York Ophthalmology, taking time to ensure each patient understands their diagnosis and treatment options.

Dr. Patel specializes in cataract surgery, ocular surface and corneal disorders, corneal transplants, and laser vision correction. His particular interests include the management of keratoconus, infectious keratitis, and performing advanced procedures such as full thickness keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK, DMEK).

Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, where he also earned his MBA from the UAB Collat School of Business. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in corneal, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at Eye Consultants of Atlanta.

Throughout his training, Dr. Patel has presented and authored numerous academic papers and publications. He is committed to providing exceptional eye care and building strong relationships with his patients and referring providers.
