Dr. Rodney P. Coe is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist at New York Ophthalmology in Washington Heights. He is a retina specialist who believes in personalizing his care to each patient’s specific needs and is passionate about providing patients with the services they need to see the world more clearly.
Education & Experience
Dr. Coe received his undergraduate degree from Boston College, majoring in biology with honors, before earning his Master of Science in biology from New York University. He then achieved his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, where he also was honored with the Excellence in Ophthalmology Award. He has also trained at Pennsylvania Hospital, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Eye Center, where he completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery. He also worked in private practice before joining New York Ophthalmology.
In addition to his work at New York Ophthalmology, Dr. Coe has also published work in many peer-reviewed publications and has given numerous presentations and lectures on ophthalmology and related topics. Dr. Coe is also a physician, surgeon, and owner of the specialist practice ClearView Retina.

Dr. Coe is a passionate patient advocate who believes in helping patients understand everything that’s happening with their eyes, and what he’s doing to help. When he’s not caring for his patients, Dr. Coe enjoys traveling, golfing, and tennis. He is both a classically trained pianist and a certified sailor.
